Tea & TRE - A Gentle Workshop for Shaking, Settling & Sharing

Price: £35 | Duration: 2 hours | Suitable for beginners

What is TRE?
TRE (Tension & Trauma Release Exercises) is a somatic method developed by Dr. David Berceli that uses a sequence of movements to help the body access a natural neurogenic tremor response. This reflexive shaking mechanism is part of how the human nervous system can discharge muscular tension, downshift from sympathetic arousal, and promote parasympathetic settling. Many mammals use similar tremoring to complete stress cycles and restore homeostasis after threat or exertion.

Potential Benefits
Individual responses vary, but people often report:

  • Decreased muscular tension and bracing

  • Reduced stress and heightened calm

  • Improved interoception (awareness of internal sensations)

  • More flexible emotional regulation

  • A sense of grounding, presence, and ease

TRE does not require strength or performance - its effectiveness lies in allowing the nervous system to unwind at its own pace.

Self-Regulation, Comfort & Deep Awareness
A core principle of TRE is self-regulation. Participants are guided to track body sensations, pacing, and comfort, adjusting or pausing as needed. This titrated approach helps maintain safety within one’s own window of tolerance, supports nervous system learning, and builds resilience over time.

Deepening interoceptive awareness not only strengthens self-regulation, but also sets the conditions for co-regulation in shared environments. When individuals settle their systems, group nervous systems can subtly attune, fostering a sense of coherence, trust, and social connection. Shared vulnerability can become a stabilizing resource rather than a threat.

Tea, Integration & Optional Sharing
The final portion of the workshop offers space for integration, with tea and optional conversation. Discussing our different experiences can often illuminate and validate our own. Sharing is welcomed but never required - quiet reflection is equally valuable.

Suitability
This workshop is guided in a supportive, trauma-informed manner. No prior experience is necessary. Modifications and pacing options are provided throughout.
